Both 3PE and TPEP are composite coating systems built on a fusion-bonded epoxy (FBE) primer, but they serve different purposes.
3PE adds a copolymer adhesive and a polyethylene top coat outside the pipe. It is the common choice for buried oil, gas and water transmission lines where external soil corrosion is the main concern.
TPEP keeps the 3PE structure outside and adds a fusion-bonded epoxy powder lining inside. The smooth epoxy lining reduces flow resistance and suits potable water transmission.
